Educational Support for poor
school children:
Education is most vital key to ending extreme
poverty. Free primary education is
constitutionally mandated in India. This may be
true in the narrow sense that public schools do
not charge for tuition. But the real cost of
schooling for parents turns out to be quite
high. These “hidden” costs include notes, books,
uniforms, exam fees, snacks, sports equipment
etc., This hidden costs are the main reason for
school dropouts.
SAWED identified 600 school going poor
children from 34 villages of Theni and Dindigul
District and helped them to continue their
education by providing these hidden costs.

Creches for the Poor
Children:
We are running Creches for the age group of
2-5 years in 5 deserving villages with 15-20
children in each center. Care and Education of
these poor children is the major objective of
this program.

Non Formal Education for
Working/Street Children:
SAWED running Non Formal Education Centers
for working/street children, by offering life
skills with minimal theoretical base, in
addition to orienting them on small savings,
personal hygiene, health, and their legal
rights.

School Enrollment
Campaign:
SAWED Co-ordinates with local government to
take up 100% enrollment of the children in
schools. Cultural programme will be organized
during the every academic year to the general
public to create awareness about the importance
of education and the problems of working/street
children.

SAWED has joined the network Action on Women
World Summit Foundation and had conducted number

students, college students and parents of
working children are involved in this campaign
