SAWED Trust in Partnership with VISIONS – USA (international non-profit organization based in California in USA) successfully organized 10 days Leadership & Empowerment Camp at Karaikal for tsunami affected childrens. This leadership camp helped to educate and empower youth through a direct training program focused on leadership, human rights & citizenship, culture basic professional skills and fun. The goal of this camp was to empower and educate destitute youth to become community leaders, while creating awareness, leadership and sense of global citizenship. The camp was attended by 65 selected children at the age group of 13 and 15. This 10 days camp helped the tsunami affected children to overcome their roughest time and tried to inspire and motivate them. Camp also provided some tangible skills that can be used in their real lives. To Organise this camp a team of 5 volunteers from USA, UK and India came under VISIONS Co-Director Mr.Greg Buie. They worked from about 7.30 am until about 5.30 pm. On the final day of the camp all the students and volunteers took a day-long field trip to Thanjavur to visit an ancient temple, children’s park, museum and more.
